The organised labour in Nigeria has suspended the nationwide strike that commenced on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, to protest the brutalization of NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero in Owerri, the Imo State Capital.
The decision to suspend the action was reached at an emergency visual joint National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of NLC and TUC.
During the NEC session, there was an agreement to suspend the industrial action following a plea by the National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu.
Earlier, organised labour met with the NSA, who urged the workers to end the industrial action to allow for an amicable resolution to the issues.
A source at the joint NEC of the two labour centres told THE NIGERIAN TRIBUNE that the workers agreed to give Malam Ribadu the benefit of the doubt as he pledged to resolve the impasse.
