There was wild jubilation at Holy Trinity Parish Umudike Ukpor in Nnewi South Local Goverment Area of Anambra State as the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Humpherey Nwojoko (Fr. Gbarie) handed over envelopes containing money for the WAEC and NECO fees to twelve students who are billed to participate in the exams later in the year.
It was actually a big relief for the students and their parents who were pleasantly surprised with the priest’s charity demonstration.
Rev. Fr. Nwojoko, Spiritual Director, ‘Everyday With the Jesus and Mary Adoration Ministry’, Holy Trinity Parish Umudike Ukpor while presenting the envelopes to the benefitting students said that he was moved to pay those fees after a ‘42 – Day Prayers’ recently concluded in the Parish.
The priest said that he had earlier announced during the Third Sunday Ministration held in the parish that his parishioners who are going to take this year’s WAEC and NECO should come as there would be special prayers for them.
Fr. Gbarie as he is popularly called however noted that many students in final year did not show up as only twelve came around for the prayers and got their examination fees paid.
He charged the beneficiaries to face their studies squarely so as to come out of their examinations in flying colors and in the process contribute their quota toward making the world a better place.
The priest decried a situation where many youths these days prefer masquerading and other fetish activities rather than going to church.
Some of the students who were moved to tears while receiving the money expressed their gratitude to Fr Nwojoko for his humanitarian gesture.
Miss Chinecherem Ikwueme, a beneficiary who said she has the ambition of studying Law in the University noted that her parents do not have the resources to train her but Rev Fr Nwojoko for his intervention.
“I thank Fr Nwojoko for his show of love, at least, I am sure of writing my WAEC now, after which I will look unto God for more help about the intended course I desire to pursue in the university.” Miss Ikwueme said.
She passionately thanked the priest on behalf of herself and other beneficiaries.
