The newly appointed Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla on Saturday visited Anambra State as part of his nationwide pathfinding tour.
Vice Admiral Ogalla during a courtesy call on the governor of state, Prof Charles Soludo recalled that the Naval Outpost in Onitsha was established through the assistance from the state government.
He assured that efforts to ensure that peace returns to zone would be doubled.
Vice Admiral Ogalla said as a matter of fact that it is an aberration that a criminal gang will be dictating what happens in South East and in the process has continued to drag the zone backward.
“Sit at home must end and the champions of the illegal sit at home should look for legitimate means of livelihood or have full weight of security agencies to contend with.
Prof. Charles Soludo while welcoming the new Naval boss at Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia assured of the commitment of his administration to partnership with the Nigerian Navy as well as supporting interventions for greater mutual output and safer region
Gov Soludo noted that notwithstanding the fact that the service does not take cognizance of ethnicity in making appointments but uphold the highest form of professionalism and hierarchy, Vice Admiral Ogalla’s appointment, he said, was greeted with much jubilation in the South East region and commended the President for the goodwill.
Prof Soludo while commending the Navy and their formidable collaborations with other security agencies, revealed that there is increased need for Navy presence in the state because of oil theft and bunkering going on at the Ogwuikpele area of Anambra State.
“It has become existential threat in the South East, but with your strategic appointment, there is this voice, to uproot the criminals and profile them for who they are. We deserve to have a liveable and prosperous Anambra State”. Gov Soludo asserted.
He applauded the Navy and indeed, all security agencies operating in the state, for their sacrifices and described their job as a calling that should be respected.
