The Spiritual Head of Soul Revival Outreach, Nnewi, Anambra State, Prophet Iyke Uzukwu has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to investigate the performance of the rice palliative he gave to National Assembly members for onward distribution to their constituents during the Yuletide.
Prophet Uzukwu said that many federal legislators outrightly sold off what was meant for their constituents while many others are playing politics with the distribution of the rice.
He said it is rather unfortunate that the attitude of most of the members of the National Assembly is not edifying the administration of the day especially by the way the rice issue was handled.
“I expect the federal lawmakers to use the National Identification Number (NIN) for the process of distribution if they are sincere, that will make distribution less difficult, the distribution shouldn’t be for political patronage. The development has made it incumbent for the federal government to always announce the real amount the lawmakers are given for constituency projects.
“If the federal legislators had distributed the rice to their constituents during Christmas and new year festivities to compliment the ones shared by the state governments, the price of rice would have been forced down.
“Most of the lawmakers have abandoned constituency briefing, the last time we had such was during the era of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, the constituency briefing should not be held in the house of the representative, he should be in an open space,” he asserted.
On the recent imbroglio between the Anambra State governor, Prof Charles Soludo and the State Traditional Rulers Council, the fiery cleric said that the monarchs are the architect of their own problems.
Prophet Uzukwu wondered why the Royal Fathers would choose to be using the Government House facilities for their meetings when they should have been using the palace of one of their own or atmost rotate the hosting of their meetings among themselves.
“For me, government officials should go to Royal blessing and not for the Igwes to be going to the government for political blessing. The truth is that many of traditional rulers don’t have integrity and that is why they are being treated with levity.
“In the olden days, the emergence of an Igwe is not by election, it is the gods of the land that was doing that, In those days, Igwes represented the ancestors and the gods, while Ezemuo was the mouth piece of the gods.” He explained.
Prophet Uzukwu observed with worry that certain charlatans have emerged traditional rulers of their communities because they have friends in government.
The Anambra based prophet while.commenting on what appears to be protracted insecurity in the South East appealed to President Tinubu to graciously release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu which according to him will end the observable anomalies in the Southeast.
“Hoodlums who are not members of IPOB are capitalizing on the incarceration of MNK to terrorize Igboland, whoever that is telling President Tinubu that there is no problem in Southeast is not saying the truth. I’m certain that once Nnamdi Kanu is released, all the hoodlums capitalizing on his arrest and detention will run away. He stressed.
