CLO mourns Prof Nwosu, calls for his immortalization

Civil Liberties Organization(CLO) said it received with disheartening shock and sorrow the death of Prof Humphrey Nwosu erstwhile Chairman of National Electoral Commission between 1989 to 1993.

CLO while mourning the exit of the extraordinary professor called for his immortalization and naming of certain national monuments, especially INEC National Headquarters after him.

The CLO message was contained in a statement signed by Comrades Vincent Ezekwueme, Chidi Mbah and Hyginus Udensi Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer respectively.

“Prof Nwosu renowned erudite scholar, academician, moralist, patriot and courageous servant leader. He was a principled democrat, innovator and man of impeccable character and integrity.

“To his credit he conducted much celebrated June 12, 1993 Presidential election adjudged to be freest, fairest, most credible and generally acceptable election in Nigeria history.

“Prof Nwosu will always be remembered by his homegrown creative and innovative political ideology option A4 and Open Ballot systems that should have been permanent panacea to all electoral challenges bedeviling the country, if sustained by Nigeria government,” CLO noted.

The group pointed out that Pof Nwosu always stand for what is right, fair, just and laudable regardless of the consequences.

CLO said that the greatest and best tribute, the political class, INEC officials and Nigerians can pay in his memory is to emulates his patriotism, incorruptibilty, social justice and uprightness.

The group while praying for the repose of the soul of the former INEC Chairman urged his family, and loved ones to take solace in the fact that he lived a life worthy of commendation and emulation.
