Documentation of non indigenes by communities in Anambra is free, Information Commissioner insists

From Ifeoma Ejiofor

The Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor (PhD) on Friday said that documentation of non indigenes in the state by communities is free.

Law Mefor in a statement made available to journalists said that the government directive not to collect money from tenants is still in force.

The statement reads, “As clearly stated in the press release issued after the 3rd Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) Meeting of Monday, 17th February, 2025, the directive by the Anambra State Government to communities not to collect money from tenants for their documentation has not changed and is still in force.

“The Presidents-General of the 179 communities in Anambra State should please note and ensure strict compliance to avoid consequences.

“Meanwhile, Government appreciates the cooperation it receives from Ndi Anambra, especially regarding the new security arrangement put in place to ensure maximum security for the state, and urges them to shun blackmail and misinformation peddled by some disgruntled elements against the good works of Agunechemba and Operation Udo Ga-Achi.

“Anambra is rising! Security is everyone’s responsibility: If you see something, say something; call 5111 and note that your calls and messages will be treated with utmost confidentiality.”
