From Ifeoma Ejiofor

Dr. Prof. Ezeobah Nkonye, the founder of Zion Mercy Foundation (a non-profit organisation) has donated food items and cash gifts to widows and orphans as part of activities by the organisation to support widows and the less privileged women in her community Awuda village in Nnobi of Idemili South Local Government Area, during Christmas, being a time of exchanging gifts.

Dr. Prof. Ezeobah Nkonye during the distribution of the gift items, stated that the initiative was part of her Foundation’s humanitarian outreach aimed at helping vulnerable women to alleviate their suffering and improve their well-being and livelihoods, as well as providing financial assistance to help the widows to cover basic expenses, such as rent, children school fees and medical care, because the birth of Jesus Christ signified God’s love for mankind, the need to regularly extend the same love to the vulnerable in society.

It should be recalled that in November 2023, Dr. Prof. Ezeobah Nkonye through her foundation paid the school fees of numerous children in the community.

Also, in April 2024; recognizing the need for a healthy learning environment, the philanthropist, Dr. Prof. Ezeobah Nkonye also sponsored the renovation of some primary schools’ toilets in Awuda village in Nnobi.

The facilities, previously in poor condition, were upgraded with new plumbing, tiles, and sanitation supplies – ensuring a clean and safe environment for children, promoting hygiene and reducing health risks.

When asked the motivation behind her kind gestures, Dr. Prof. Ezeobah said:

“As a woman, I am just doing what I believe is my duty as a human being. These children, widows and all other less privileged people deserve our love, care, and support. I’m grateful to be in a position to make a difference in their lives.”

The philanthropist urged well-spirited individuals, NGOs and corporate organisations to emulate Christ’s love for mankind by reaching out to the less privileged in the society.

She admonished the windows to always put their faith in God and strive to raise their children in the fear of God as she called on government at all levels to always pay prime attention to the welfare and development of less privileged people in the society.

A beneficiaries out of pure joy and profound happiness on behalf of herself and others, thanked Zion Mercy Foundation founded and funded by Dr. Prof. Ezeobah Nkonye.

She noted that Dr. Prof. Ezeobah Nkonye’s kindness has been a lifeline to them as widows in the area, adding that, “prior this Christmas, I was struggling to make ends meet, but prof’s generosity gave me hope. We thank her immensely. We pray God to bless her abundantly”
