Chief Dr. Emeka Obegolu SAN, the former President of the Pan African Lawyers Union and Founding Partner of Greenfield Chambers, was inaugurated as the new President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) on Thursday.
He takes over from Alhaji Al-Mujtaba Abubakar after being elected at the 33rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of ACCI along with other newly elected officials.
In his inaugural address, Obegolu outlined his plans to improve infrastructure development and ease of doing business in the country during his tenure.
“My administration will ensure infrastructure development and ease of business in the country. As we move forward, our focus will be on Improving our value proposition, encouraging participatory membership, infrastructural development, professionalising our secretariat and repositioning our brand,” he stated.
He also emphasized legislative and policy advocacy, ease of doing business and expanding market opportunities as key priority areas.
Obegolu expressed gratitude for the honor of being elected as the 12th President of ACCI. He called for cooperation from members and stakeholders in carrying out his mandate to realize the collective vision of a thriving business community in Abuja.
The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry represents the interests of the organized private sector in Nigeria’s capital region. Obegolu brings over 30 years of experience across the legal profession, trade policy, and socio-economic development to his new role as President.
