The journey from Jackson Mississippi to Egbu-Umuenem, Otolo, Nnewi in Anambra State, Nigeria took a considerable time to consummate. The saying that ‘the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step’ was fortuitous when it came to the love the couple shared.
The bride’s father, Emmanuel Lantis Nwosu confided to the Vision Newspapers team that the daughter informed him that she and Fred Henderson have been in love for two years, despite the thousands of miles separating them.
Finally, on Thursday, May 9, 2024, Henderson came to the Igbo land to pay the dowry on her love and performed the traditional marriage to signal to the world that Ms Ngozi Nwosu is now Mrs Ngozi Henderson.
Henderson informed the publisher of Vision Newspapers that a lot of Nigerians live in Jackson Mississippi, with the Igbos being more prominent. He said that his relationship with his wife has made him pay closer attention to the Igbo community.
After the traditional blessings from the bride’s father, Emmanuel Nwosu to Fred and Ngozi, the groom was given an opportunity to speak.
Fred Henderson expressed his gratitude to the entire kindred of the Ezeseluaku Dalahinze family for the warm reception they gave him. Fred said, “If I need to make this journey a million times for my wife, I will do it over and over again”. He promised to come back to the community as soon as he could.
