The Anambra State governor, Prof Charles Soludo has introduced free education in the state.
The governor made this announcement at Premier Primary School, Obosi in Anambra State.
“In the free education program we are launching today, as far as I am on the chair as governor of Anambra State, all the schools owned and run by government from Nursery to Primary 6, to JSS 3, no pupil or student would be required under any circumstance to pay any Kobo.
“No child in Anambra state is expected to pay any fee in all schools owned and managed by the Anambra state government, starting from Nursery, Primary 1 to JSS3.” He emphasized.
Recall that the governor had during a retreat for members of his cabinet in Golden Turlip Hotel Agulu, Aniocha LGA last month muted the idea of free education as a way of offering palliative to the indigents.
The Anambra State Woman Leader of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Hon (Mrs) Esther Onyekesi while commenting on the development applauded Gov Soludo for running a masses friendly administration.
“Imagine what the free education program means to a woman who has four children, such a person has been spared of huge pressure.
“Gov Soludo is different from every other governors, many governors are known for patronizing families, friends and cronnies but the Anambra State governor is committed to the empowerment of the masses.
“Recall that Gov Soludo has introduced free antenatal for all pregnant women in Anambra State. These are laudable programs aimed at alleviating the suffering of the masses.” She asserted.
