The Anambra State Ministry of Education has dissociated herself from the Anambra State Mathematics Fiesta 2024 billed to hold on 8th June, 2024.
Nnewi, Onitsha and Awka were pencilled to host the program that would feature lower primary, upper primary, junior jecondary and Senior secondary.
A prize of one hundred thousand Naira was said to up for grabs for the winning school.
But in a press statement by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Anambra State Ministry of Education, Mr Nnaemeka Egwuonwu dissociated the ministry from the program.
“The Ministry of Education, Anambra State, hereby disassociate completely from the above program. Principals should beware of politicians and greedy money mongers who come into the education space to toy with the lives of our children and defraud parents.
“Any competition of this sort must be approved by the state government as philanthropy without cost to the children or any other.
“It must be on PRO Bono bases, without financial burden and done for the benefit of the children and not for political propaganda or money making.
“Under no circumstances must a school principal accept anybody without due approval to enter the school and interact with our children. Please be warned accordingly,” Egwuonwu said.
