Unidentified miscreants have burnt down the house of member, representing Ihiala federal constituency in the green chamber of the National Assembly, Dr. Paschal Agbodike.
Sources claimed that the hoodlums invaded the house located in Ubahu-Mbosi in Ihiala Local Government Area at about 1am on Tuesday and started shooting sporadically before setting the house ablaze.
Agbodike was also the former Deputy Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly and the place of the incident is his hometown.
A resident in the community who pleaded for anonymity said that no life was lost, but the house, consisting of a fully-furnished five-bedroom duplex with four living rooms and a kitchen was completely razed down.
The lawmaker, who confirmed the incident to journalists on Tuesday, said he was informed about the incident on phone.
He said he was in Abuja carrying out his legislative duties when the attack occured, adding that before security operatives arrived the scene, the hoodlums had fled.
He also did not state if he suspected anyone, or whether it was politically motivated.
The Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Anambra State Command, Tochukwu Ikenga,(DSP)has confirmed the incident, saying that surveillance efforts are in place in the area.
Ikenga said, “The area has been condoned and security operatives have been deployed in the area and they are assessing the situation. There is ongoing surveillance by the operatives.”
A number of respondents who commented on the development condemned the persons behind the attack on the lawmaker’s residence.
