The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, delivered a direct message to directors within the FCT Administration and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA): perform or seek redeployment.
Addressing the senior bureaucracy of the FCT Administration, FCDA, and members of the media after the official handover ceremony, Wike emphasized the need for results. He urged directors to work diligently, without fear or favor, underscoring that his expectations are clear and centered on achieving tangible outcomes.
With a focus on swift solutions, Wike shared plans to address pressing issues. Immediate attention would be directed toward improving traffic management, sanitation, street trading, transportation, and security within the territory. Expressing his resolve to restore Abuja’s status as a well-maintained city, he set forth directives for quick fixes that included restoring malfunctioning street lights and eliminating street trading.
Wike’s commitment to transformation extended to other sectors. He vowed to confront illegal structures, shanties, and other forms of unlawfulness. Emphasizing accountability, he asserted that projects would only commence with secured funding, ensuring no projects would be left unfinished under his administration.
The Minister’s candid approach to leadership was highlighted when he addressed directors directly responsible for sanitation and transportation. He challenged them to deliver tangible results and warned against complacency, underlining his expectation of hard work and tangible outcomes.
Minister of State Mariya Mahmoud echoed the call for unity and cooperation to drive comprehensive development within the FCT.
As Nyesom Wike’s administration assumes its responsibilities, the emphasis remains resolutely on prompt action, accountability, and demonstrable progress.
