Nigeria’s ex-president Muhammadu Buhari has maintained his loyalty to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that he should be addressed as the party’s member.
Speaking against the backdrop of mass defections in the country’s political landscape, Buhari disclosed that he would do everything to popularize the party.

In a statement issued by his former spokesperson, Garba Shehu, the former president expressed gratitude for the party’s support before and during his tenure as the nation’s leader.
“I am an APC member, and I like to be addressed as such. I will try to popularize the party by all means.

“At present, I have nothing but gratitude for the support that the party gave me before and during my tenure as president,” Buhari stated.
Daily Sun reported that former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai shared that Buhari gave his consent to the former’s defection to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
El-Rufai said he paid Buhari a visit last Friday and informed him of his decision to leave the APC.
According to him, Buhari is always in the know when he makes such decisions.
