IPOB to FG: Remove terrorism tag on us

Following recent exoneration of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as a terrorist group by the court, the pro-Biafra group has urged the Federal Government to remove the tag and stop to recognise it as such.

Spokesperson of the group, Emma Powerful, in a statement, said its group has not violated any law since its struggle for a Biafra nation.

“Nigeria judiciary should redeem its honour and dignity by ensuring unjust terrorist tag on IPOB is removed. The IPOB’s self-determination approach has not violated any local or international laws.

“African Union (AU), European Union (EU), USA and Russia governments, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and other reputable human rights organisations across the globe should ask the Nigeria government and its courts to remove the illegal proscription tag on IPOB or appear in court to defend their actions.

“Since IPOB appealed the black market proscription, the Nigeria government and its proxy actor judges have never allowed the case to see the light of day. Men and women of good conscience should ask the Nigerian government why it is running away from the court on the case of IPOB proscription appeal.

“Instead of facing IPOB’s legal team in court to prove its proscription of IPOB, the Nigerian government capitalised on illegal terrorist tag on IPOB

“The Nigeria government has adopted violent repression against peaceful IPOB members so that it can intimidate us into abandoning this Biafra struggle.

“Let the Nigeria government and other Western interests realise that nothing will make Biafrans abandon the self-determination via a referendum.”
