There is a saying in Anaedo land, “that when a community jointly destroys a shrine, it shall not result in negative consequences against the land.”
No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor has been the reward for what he gave. It is based on this maxim that Isingwu community in Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State, has conferred to a patriotic son of the soil, Chief Nnamdi Onuchukwu, with a special title of “Ofuonye ada-anu uda egbe” which means good deed is never hidden.
Chief Nnamdi Onuchukwu, a London-based trained professional, received the special title because of his good deeds and commitment towards the development of his community. He is a serial and enthusiastic donor to the community.
It must be noted that Onuchukwu has been one of the pillars in the Isingwu community that worked tirelessly to ensure that the community remained peaceful and developed.
He has shipped some security gadgets worth millions of Naira to equip security agents in his community.
Isingwu community being proud of Chief Onuchukwu’s undiluted commitment and dedication for the betterment of the community, isolated him specially for the title. The Obi Isingwu and the other sub Obis that made constitute Isingwu collectively conferred on him the title name. That in itself is a testament of how much Isingwu community values its illustrious son, Chief Onuchukwu.
The Obi of Isingwu, Chief Donald Igboanusi, performing Kolanut ritual, prayed for God’s blessings on his subjects and declared that 2025 would bring so many good things in the lives of his subjects.
President General of Isingwu, Chief Godwin Ugochukwu, in his remarks, described Chief Onuchukwu as a true son of the soil whose immense contribution has helped in solidifying security in the community.
“We are proud of our community because in Oraifite as a whole, there is relative peace in terms of security. This was made possible because of men like Chief Nnamdi Onuchukwu” he said. He also noted that the community does not levy any member of its members for development levies because of individuals like Chief Onuchukwu.
Reacting to the honor, Ofu onye ada-anu uda egbe expressed his gratitude to God Almighty and to the community who found him worthy of the title. He informed the Obis, the traditional Prime Ministers, and other stakeholders present that notwithstanding what he had done in the past, that what he packaged for the community that is still on transit is worth millions of naira.
He considered the honor humbling because he was doing what he felt needed to be done to see that his community was evenly developed. He promised to help mobilize those with means to look inward so that their community shall grow from strength to strength.
In addition, Chief Onuchukwu promised not only to bring their people to assist, but to bring his friends to be part of the developmental effort to see Isingwu grow as a formidable community.
Chief Onuchukwu pledged to always support projects meant to bring about peace and progress in the community, adding that he would stop at nothing to make it possible. He said development remains contagious, adding that “if one community develops, others would follow suit.”
“Together we move, that is what life is all about. Without it we cannot fulfill our destiny.” Onuchukwu continued.
‘Ofu onye ada-anu uda egbe’ described his title name as “If something good happens in ones life, it is not only about you, but others will feel it as well.
“When you hear the sound of a gun, it is not all about destruction. The sound of a gun in the community usually heralds an announcement of events. The gun sound can signify joy, victory, and celebration in the land. In my own case, it signifies something good.
When asked how he Chief Onuchukwu came up with such unique name. He said: “I came up with the title name because I felt it in my spirit that it was deserving in line with my personality. It is not only me that would feel or hear about the good news, but others around me would feel the good news every step of the way.”
Chief Onuchukwu advised those God has blessed in the society to reach out and be a blessing to their communities because, according to him, “there is a blessing attached to it.”
“No man is an island, we need each other to fulfill our individual destiny. The privilege and opportunity for us to be born in a particular community, we need to return it back when God blesses us. When your people are happy, you are happy, that is the way I see life and I feel blessed doing it” he added.
