Knights of St John holds an International feast celebration

The Holy Mass for the Feast of Knights of St John International celebration, Nnewi Grand Commandery on Sunday held at St Philip’s Catholic Church Okpuneze Uruagu-Nnewi, Nnewi North LGA of Anambra State.

The feast was officiated by Very Rev Fr Celestine Okonkwo who delivered a sermon on the topic: ‘Fear is a storm’ took his text from John 14:7 and John 10: 9 in a mass that coincided with St Peter’s Pence marked all over the world by Catholics.

He said that Jesus Christ has the power over elementals forces as demonstrated in his calming the rampaging sea of Galilee.

Very Rev Fr Okonkwo recalled the harrowing experience the biblical Job passed through in the hands of Lucifer just because he was beloved of God.

He assured Christians that they should not be afraid of any storm that comes their way because Jesus Christ is always there to calm the stormy situations in their lives.

The Nnewi Grand Commandery of Knights of St John used the occasion to empower the widows that attended the feast with 50kg of rice and cash.

A former Anambra State governorship aspirant who attended the mass for the feast of St Peter’s Pence, Comrade Peter Nwosu, offset some bills of the church and also partnered with Knights of St John to empower the widows and the less privileged persons.

The Grand Commander of Nnewi Grand Commandry, Alex Nnabuife(GC) in a statement thanked God for the success of the feast and also appreciated the knights, the Laux and others who contributed to grand outing of Knights of St John.
