LGA dissociates itself from the proposed Orlu State

From Ifeoma Ejiofor

The President Imo General Assembly Nnewi branch, Hon Chinedu Igwe has distanced himself from the proposed Orlu State.

Hon Igwe who was speaking with journalists in Nnewi said that though creation of additional state from the South East is welcomed development but added that it should not be Orlu State.

He said as a matter of fact that the proposed Orlu State is with wrong intentions from the sponsors and proponents of the bill.

“My view on the proposed bill is that it is with wrong motives, I am in full support of creation of additional state from the South East to balance the equation in the country.

“The creation of additional state from the South East has become imperative because in the last population census, South East has the largest population figure.

“The proponent of Orlu State did not make wide consultations, he made the move all alone for the reason best known to him, if not, I don’t see any reason why he should add Ohaji Egbema which is located at Imo boundary with Rivers State after Owerri.

“I guess the sponsor want his dream state to an oil producing state, adding Ozubulu in Ekwusigo LGA of Anambra State to the proposed Orlu State, is difficult to understand” he noted.

Hon Igwe who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Suzuki Don Int’l Ltd however declared his support for the creation of Anioma State to level up South East so as to make the states in all the geopolitical zones equal.

“I believe it is better to grab from losing side than to brake the one at hand, it is good to aquire more than reducing the existing states, after all, the people occupying Anioma are our brothers, they are Ndigbo by tribe and culture, it’s good we bring home,” He asserted.

Asked to comment on the planned protest against bad governance in Nigeria, Hon Igwe said he dosent see the protest achieving any positive dividend.

“The canker worm eating Nigeria is tribalism and ethnicity, which has made it difficult to be objective on national issues. People rely most on propaganda and lies from the elites from their geopolitical zones,” he noted.

Hon Igwe however pointed out that the western world will continue to benefit from Nigeria and other African countries’ woes until Africans decide to standup and solve their own problems.
