LP will move Nigeria to the expected level, says Menakaya

By Ekuson Nw’Ogbunka

The former minister of health, Dr. Timothy Menakaya, has said that the Labour Party (LP) would move Nigeria to the expected level, just as he disclosed his dissatisfaction with the outcome of the state assembly election within and outside Anambra state.

Menakaya, a founding member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), spoke to our correspondent yesterday.

On his view on the belief by some that the APGA would loose to the LP in the subsequent elections, he responded thus: “That is a very big possibility. I thougt that the LP will redeem this country and I still should believe that LP will redeem this country and that doesn’t make me to belong to any party. So I strongly believe in the LP, their ideology and everything. That is the only hope for this country. The leader of LP is the person Nigeria needs at this time. Where we should go, that is what the LP is doing. Obidient people shall never be abandoned and I am obidient.”

He continued: “The LP came out for a purpose, because they want to do tthings right. How can they win APGA and this winning does it have any meaning to you? Winning to do what; intimedating the people the more? Party stoos after the result of the election, because it is the state that takes over. Today we are talking about party all the time. Does it make you something more important and why were you born there and isn’t it to represent God and do the right thing?”

Speaking on his dissatisfaction at the elections, Menakaya asked: “How can I? I am not dstisfired with the election, both in Anambra and Nigeria in general. This election is the worst election so far. People behaved any how and nobody cared.”

Charging those elected into the state assembly to ensure proper representation of the people, Dr Menakaya said: “Let them deliver and put party politics apart and involve God in performance of their duties. They should remember that their is God in whatever they are doing.

“Whatever you call; call it won or whatever. Winning for what and what is the pirpose of winning?

“I have not heard about killing in Anambra, so the state is one of the most peaceful states, because if you want to win and lead the people, you will be alive to do that.

He continued: “So my view is that things haven’t been going well in the country. Things sre so bad in the country. Anambra is one of the best in the country. But you can’t say congratulations to Nigeria, because we are getting worst. I was confident that things would be betrer, but unfortunately, it became worse. At least the people voted in Anambra.
