Many things need reengineering in Anambra State, say Chief Moghalu

From Ifeoma Ejiofor

The Labour Party (LP) govervorship aspirant for Anambra State in the 2025 guber polls, Chief George Moghalu on Saturday said that there are many things that need reengineering in the state.

The former boss of Nigeria Inland Water Ways (NIWA) stated this during an interactive session with journalists in his Uruagu-Nnewi residence.

He pointed out that many things are not working at the moment which according to him need urgent attention.

“Insecurity has assumed an unprecedented all time high in the state, there is a total infrastructural collapse, I am in the race to give our beloved state a responsible and responsive leadership which the entire Anambra people would be proud of.

“When I ran for goverborship election in 2023, I promised the people that I was going to regain the confidence of the people in governance, this I must say is totally lacking at the moment.

“I always tell the people that whatever any administration cannot do in a single term of four years, such government cannot do it in eight years, in total respect for the zoning arrangements in Anambra State, I will do a single tenure of four years,” he said.

Chief Moghalu made it clear that he is not interested in contesting the yet to be scheduled senatorial election to replace Sen Ifeanyi Ubah who recently passed on.

“I am qualified to be a local government area Councillor, a member of House of Representatives as well as Senate, I am also qualified to be governor and the president, my focus at the moment is the 2025 goverborship election,” he declared.

He said further that he joined Labour Party which has wonderful persons with very good credentials noting that the members of the party would at the end of the day decide who flags the party flag in the guber election.

“In any political contestations, is the person and the platform. A candidate must necessarily talk about what he is bringing to the table, in doing that, it is crucial for the aspirant to talk about himself and his ambition.

“Closely related to an aspirant vision and mission is political party which is the platform that would be used to prosecute the ambition. I have opted for LP as a platform to render quality service to Anambra people.

“I have been a party man since 1991 when I was in NRC, I have always been consistent, I have always been an active player in the public and private sectors, my joining LP will help the political party,” Chief Moghalu declared.

When asked to comment on the recently conducted Anambra State local government area elections, Chief Moghalu said that he would not waste his time talking about an election that was a sham.
