The hope electricity consumers in Anambra and other parts of South East to have power restored as the Enugu Electricity Distribution PLC says it is experiencing system collapse.
The news of the collapse system was contained in a press release signed by the Head, Corporate Communicationof EEDC, Emeka Ezeh made available to journalists on Monday.
“The Enugu Electricity Distribution PLC (EEDC) wishes to inform her esteemed customers in the South East of a general system collapse which occurred this morning, Monday, 14th March, 2022 at 10:40 am. This is the reason for the loss of supply currently being experienced across the network.
“Consequently, all our outgoing feeders are out and supply to our customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States are affected by this development. We are on standby and awaiting signal from the National Control Centre (NCC) for restoration of supply.” The statement added.
Meanwhile, the industrial town of Nnewi and her environs has been in total blackout for four days running just before the EEDC system collapse
A consumer Chief Jude Agu who spoke with journalists in Nnewi described the blackout in the industrial cum commercial town as very unfortunate and counter productive. He noted that businesses were run alternative power supply at a time when the nation is experiencing fuel scarcity.
