Following a chance meeting between the CMD of NAUTH, Associate Professor Joe Ugboaja, and Professor Victor Madubuko, the CEO of the Moonshine Residence (an exclusive apartment hotel) in Nnewi, it bred an opportunity for these highly driven gentlemen to collaborate.
Professor Ugboaja had already set a mark on the sands of time for the speed at which he had been able to transform the permanent site of the hospital at Akamili, Umudim, Nnewi. The massive construction activities at the site had never lulled for a moment since he came on board at the helm of the hospital administration.
Professor Madubuko is a conscientious patriotic business guru who firmly believes in melding corporate social responsibility projects along with his other business endeavors.
Recently, Professor Madubuko began investing in beach soccer sport’s in Anambra state as a way to move the youths out of poverty. Subsequently, the first Anambra State Beach Soccer Association ASBSA has come on stream, and the governing board will be sworn in next week.
When Ugboaja set out his vision, the critical point of reference he promised was to make NAUTH a medical destination point. He called on the major stakeholders to come and partner with the institution as he lays the enabling environment to consummate the vision into a reality.
A destination hospital here in Nnewi would not only save money for individuals but also the country. Some patients’ families may wish to be closer to their loved ones admitted to hospital. These set of individuals, in many cases, will prefer to secure a quality home away from home. Some may find it cumbersome to commute from town to visit their admitted loved ones. Although Madubuko’s company is looking to construct high-end en-suite apartments with gardens, pools, and indoor sports facility, there is an angle that must be fulfilled. That is, making provision for those families who would find it difficult to spend time with their loved ones because of a lack of resources.
As a matter of fact, the CMD keyed into and thought it was a great and laudable thing to incorporate into the mix to advance the essence of humanity. The adage “that no good deed goes unrewarded” comes to mind as the motive for the CEO to grab the opportunity to consider investing in this project.
One of the directors of the Moonshine Residence had a traumatic experience with her late brother when she was a child. Although it was a difficult time for their entire family as the boy went through treatment, it was less of a burden for her family and her sick brother because the whole family had an accommodation close to the patient.
Ronald McDonald Family Room programs made it possible for the family to be near her brother throughout the ordeal. For that reason, Professor Madubuko committed to the CMD, Professor Ugboaja, that a significant percentage of the apartments will be designated to such vulnerable families as a way of giving back.
Professor Madubuko was very appreciative of Professor Ugboaja and marveled at what he had done in a very short time.

August 17, 2023 at 1:00 pmThis is quite commendable! Though Moonshine Residence is a high end, Airbnb, its owner has agreed to designate a place for the individuals with patients at the Nnewi hospital, who couldn’t afford the price to stay while visiting their sick loved ones . This is what giving back to the community is all about!
Congratulations to the CEO Moonshine Residence!
