NAUTH takes medical outreach to Neni

In continuation of her humanitarian gesture to communities in Anambra State, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital(NAUTH) Nnewi on Tuesday took her medical outreach to Neni in Aniocha local government area.

The medical mission was a collaboration between NAUTH and the Department of Community Medicine and Primary Healthcare in partnership with M. E. Uduezue and Sons Enterprising Ltd.

The Neni free medical mission featured: Screening for common ailments, Eyecare services, Medical Consultations, and Health Promotion.

Dr. Alutu Collins, a Consultant at the occasion, delivered a lecture on preventing and treating high blood pressure.

He also spoke extensively on dietical discipline.

Igwe Ugonabu Neni applauded NAUTH for her intervention through the medical mission.

He said that the people of Neni will always support the NAUTH branch in the town and other projects they may wish to execute in his community.

The President General (PG) of Neni, Sir Christian Ikebudu, also appreciated the management of the medical institution for considering Neni in their free medical mission.

He revealed that people started trooping to the Neni Civic Center, the venue of the medical outreach, as early as 5.30 am.

Sir Ikebudu, however, appealed to the management of NAUTH to consider taking the program to his community and communities because of what he called the economic reality in today’s Nigeria.

“This is a period of great economic difficulty for many Nigerians who have to grapple with inflation induced by the removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government. An intervention like this will really go a long way to ameliorate the sufferings of the people.” He explained.

The Chief Host of the program, Prof Joseph Ugbaja, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the health institution represented by Prof Chika Ubajiaka appreciated the Neni community for being a good host to NAUTH.

Prof Ubajiaka, who is the Head of the Department of Community Medicine and Primary Healthcare, noted that the medical abl is part of the corporate social responsibility of the hospital to the people of the state.

Over six hundred patients were treated and given drugs and medicated eyeglasses at the venue.
