The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital NAUTH Nnewi, Anambra State, Prof Joseph Ugboaja (Ochinanwata Nnewi) recorded another milestone on Wednesday as the Orthopedic Outpatient Department of the health institution was commissioned.
The Orthopedic Outpatient Department which is located at the permanent site of NAUTH is a major contributory factor in making the dream of total movement to site closer to reality, is actually named after the former CMD of the hospital, Prof R.O Ofiaeli.
Prof Ugboaja (Ochinanwata Nnewi, Ifeoma Eji Amatu, Omenuko Aku, etc) at the opening ceremony which attracted eminent personalities from far and near, restated his commitment to making the NAUTH permanent site the best in the country.
He said that after achieving that lofty goal, NAUTH will strive to become the third best world class medical institution.
Ochinanwata appreciated the management team and the entire staffers for their cooperation with him, in his efforts and determination to build an health institution everyone will be proud of.
He also expressed his gratitude to the friends and supporters of the institution for their support so far but added that more collaborative relationships are still needed in NAUTH’s journey to the promised land.
The Head of the Department of Orthopedics of NAUTH, Dr Ndukwu Chibuzo Uchenna earlier in a welcome address said that the members of the department had prayed, dreamt, and longed for this day to come of the commissioning to become reality.
Dr Uchenna in a special way thanked the visionary, pragmatic, innovative, and forward-looking Chief Medical Director and the Management Team who worked tirelessly around the clock to achieve the feat.
He noted that the newly commissioned department will facilitate in a great measure the movement of NAUTH to her awesome permanent site within a very short time.
Dr. Uchenna observed with relish that the CMD of NAUTH has indeed taken the hospital to a pride of place in the comity of tertiary health institutions in the country.
He described the Special Guest of Honour, Prof. R.O. Ofiaeli, as a teacher, mentor, and father figure of the Orthopedics Department, noting that it is a thing of joy seeing the baby he midwife grow to become what it is today.
In his goodwill message, Prof Nwabueze recalled that movement to the permanent site was one of the cardinal campaign issues for Prof Ugboaja before he was appointed CMD.
He, however, said that as lofty as dream was, he never believed it was possible but applauded Ochinanwata for believing in his own dream and pursuing it to vigorously, and has become a reality.
Prof. R .O. Ofiaeli in his speech said that he was the first to tell the action CMD, Ugboaja, that he will be a CMD one day because he see his passion, zeal, and courage for greatness. What prompted Ofiaeli to conclude that as well as how a stranger came from nowhere to call Ugboaja “Ochinanwata.”
Rev. Ifeanyi Epunam of Sweet Home Foundation in his goodwill message said he started with God and will end up with God that the hand of God is in the life of Ochinanwata.
The former Anambra State Commissioner for Sports, Dr Emma Nsoedo (Ezeakukwu Nnewi), and other dignitaries who graced the occasion thumbed up the CMD of NAUTH, the management team and the entire staffers of the institution for the observable positive transformation that has taken place in the hospital.
