NAUTH’S fairytale-like under Prof Ugboaja consummates to reality as the Health Minister visits

The evolution of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching (NAUTH) from its years of lowly existence to one of the fastest-growing University Teaching hospitals in the country, albeit with a difference.

What distinguishes NAUTH from its contemporaries is a purposeful integrated system designed to achieve its primary objective as a medical behemoth to address medical issues that often lead to seeking overseas remedies.

The cornerstone of Prof Ugboaja’s vision as the Chief Medical Director was a key manifesto in his bid to be considered to lead the health institution to its deserved place of pride in the healthcare delivery business.

It should not be considered impudent on the part of those who were skeptical about the ambitious manifesto of the candidate, Prof Joseph Ugboaja, to transform NAUTH and to move the operations of the hospital to the permanent site.

The permanent site of NAUTH was a fallow land mass devoid of infrastructure. It was a land mass rich for the bushes adorning every nook and cranny of the permanent site. Ironically, NAUTH has been in existence both as a state and federal institution respectively for over 30 years.

In the last three years, NAUTH’S permanent site has witnessed one of the fastest developmental transformations. It is amazing that despite the paucity of funds, Professor Ugboaja partnered with all sector stakeholders to give the people what they have wanted for years.

The Minister of Health, Muhammad Ali Pate, will be visiting NAUTH for the one-year anniversary of the commissioning of projects with more projects in the pipeline for commissioning.

The ceremony will be momentous as the hospital will go back in time to honor and memorialize personnel who played key roles in the life of the institution. Major stakeholders such as Sir Emeka Offor, Chief Cletus M Ibeto, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, etc. will receive deserved recognition from the institution.

The Honorable Minister is expected between 15th and 16th July 2024 at NAUTH, where all major stakeholders will be on hand to receive him and his entourage.
