The Niger State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) on Monday, in Minna the state capital, held a special prayer session to ensure the return of peace and stability in the state in particular and the country in general.
The association’s chairman in the state, Rev Mathias Echioda, stated this in an interview at the closure of weekly prayers earmarked for the programme in Minna, the Niger State capital.
Echioda noted that it was organised mainly to pray for the state and the country especially on the current security soaring prices of food items and other challenges confronting Nigeria in terms of insecurity, economic recession and unemployment.
He urged leaders at every level to be alive to their responsibilities, just as he pointed out that though they were doing their best but opined that the challenges bedevilling the country required God intervention, while appealing to traditional and religious leaders to embark on prayers and preach the need for righteousness to their followers on the fear of God.
The cleric, however, appealed to Nigerians to do the right thing and have fear of God, as well promote peace and peaceful coexistence.
