The Social and Integral Development Centre (SIDEC) has praised Chukwuma Charles Soludo for appointing Chiamaka Nnake as Secretary to the Anambra State Government, describing the move as a strong statement of commitment to women’s empowerment and inclusive governance.
In a statement signed by its Executive Director, Ugochi Ehiahuruike, the organisation said the appointment—coming as the governor’s first major decision at the start of his second term—clearly reflects a deliberate effort to promote gender inclusion while recognising competence and experience.
SIDEC described Nnake as a seasoned technocrat with a proven track record in both public and private sectors. It highlighted her tenure as Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, where she played a key role in shaping fiscal policies, coordinating development priorities, and driving reforms geared toward sustainable growth.
The group also pointed to her experience as Chairman of Solution Fun City Limited and her involvement in several state boards, noting that her contributions to ease-of-doing-business reforms and social investment programmes have positioned her as a capable hand in governance.
According to SIDEC, her role in long-term development initiatives, including the Anambra Vision 2070 framework, underscores her capacity to effectively coordinate policies and drive institutional reforms in her new position.
The organisation stressed that the appointment is both strategic and well-deserved, adding that it will strengthen governance coordination and deepen reform efforts in the state.
SIDEC further noted that the governor’s decision reflects a progressive leadership style that prioritises merit, inclusivity, and increased representation of women in decision-making roles.
It expressed confidence that Nnake will bring professionalism, experience, and a reform-driven mindset to the office, while also serving as a role model for women across Anambra and beyond.
The group congratulated both the governor and the new SSG, urging sustained commitment to inclusive governance and people-centred development.
