The former President General (PG) of Obiofia in Nnewi-ichi Nnewi in Nnewi North LGA of Anambra State, Chief Michael Ibe Okonkwo over the weekend celebrated his birthday, enthronement as Obi of his kindred and new yam amidst glistse and glamour.
Chief Ibeokonkwo (IfeutoAnaedo) who is also the Obi Umudala Ogbuji in Obiofia actually threw open his gate as family, friends and associates trooped in, in their good numbers to celebrate with him.
In a unique style, Chief Ibeokonkwo also used the occasion to feast the less privileged persons in the society in his country home at Umuezize in Obiofia, Nnewi-ichi.
The occasion commenced very early in the morning as Obi Nnewi-ichi, Chief George Onyekaba (Obidiugwu) in company of other tilted Chiefs performed the traditional age long cutting of the new yam.
Ifeuto Anaedo while speaking with journalists noted that he has been celebrating new yam festival on 22nd of August since 2014.
He said that he always look forward to the day because of the unique opportunity to host family, friends and much more important feasting the less privileged persons in the society.
Chief Ibeokonkwo pointed out that the occasion was a kind of Thanksgiving to God for His mercies, protection and blessing upon him, his family, his kindred, friends and well wishers.
Ifeutor Anaedo said that the occasion also coincided with the day he was enthroned as Obi of Umudala Ogbuji noting that he might not have won the exalted position if it is through elective process.
He thanked God for counting him worthy to be the Chosen One even as he insisted that, he did not merit the position but got there through the special grace of God’s favour, mercy, grace and Divine arrangement as the mantle fell on him.
On his part, Chief Chukwunoye Onyejuluwa (Madukaejiaka) described Ifeuto Anaedo as his bosom friend and brother.
He said Chief Ibeokonkwo a Philanthropist of repute is a personality worthy of emulation noting that, his honesty, humility and generosity are qualities that makes him stand out amongst his equals.
Chief Madukaejiaka recalled that Ifeuto Anaedo as the PG of Obiofia Nnewi-Ichi Nnewi, solved many crises in the community, brought unity to the polarized people as well as installed legacy projects under his watch.
“When the righteous is in power, the people rejoice, Ifeuto Anaedo reign as PG of Obiofia brought greatest happiness to a greater number of our people, he put smile on faces of whole lot of people and he has continued in his commitment without looking back,” Chief Onyejuluwa asserted.
The occasion was witnessed by the high and mighty in the industrial town of Nnewi and beyond.
