Nnewi Union in Atlanta Georgia USA has on Tuesday splashed a whooping ten million Naira on awaiting bill settlement patients at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) Nnewi, Anambra State.
Thirty one indigent patients actually benefited from the philanthropic gesture of the officials and members of the group.
The group represented by Mrs Grace Okeke, Mrs Chioma Egbonu, Lady Cynthia Anigbogu and Mrs Udechukwu Chioma Agbasi on Tuesday took the intervention to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) Nnewi.
The leader of the delegation, Mrs Okeke while briefing the management of the hospital said the intervention would have been carried out during the yuletide but for an industrial action which the hospital participated in.
She noted that Nnewi Union has been carrying out the social responsibility program of settling the hospital bills for the awaiting bill settlement patients for the past eight years.
Mr Okeke pointed out that many members of the group from USA actually turned up for the program last December but had to return to their base, noting that a sum of ten million Naira was made available for the awaiting bill settlement patients.
In his comment, the Chairman, Medical Advisory Council (CMAC) for NAUTH, Prof Ogochukwu Ezejiofor in company of other principal officers of the hospital appreciated the kind gesture of Nnewi Union in Atlanta Georgia USA.
He said as a matter of fact that, the intervention of the members of Nnewi Union in Atlanta USA is akin to service to God noting that the hospital will not want to keep any patients unnecessarily adding that it is incumbent for the patients to pick their bills
Some of the patients who are majorly women and children expressed their gratitude to the group and their representatives for coming to their aid at their hopeless situation.
