The road construction on Nnobi road seems to have brought a mixture of blessing and sadness to the people of Abubor Nnewichi, Nnewi. The Crown Prince was led through abandoned homes the inhabitants fled during the recent rain fall.

The President General of Nnewichi, Emma Chuks took Dr Obi Orizu through the source of the problem. Beginning from the drainage system near Roban stores on Nnobi road where there is a catchment to contain the force of water coming from Umuanuka Otolo was deemed to be inadequate.

According to the President General, once there is a sustained rainfall, it usually jumped the gutters to flow with the same intensity into the nearby compounds flooding the whole place dangerously. The rain forced down walls and their farm lands become flooded as well.

The major erosion drainage behind the RBC Block industry that was supposed to channel the water systematically also collapsed leading to the devestation people suffered, he continued. The PG had earlier met with the Council Chairman, Hon Echezona Anazodo, some state government officials, and the contractor working on Nnobi road.

The Crown Prince offered suggestions on how to address the reconstruction to achieve a better positive outcome. He spoke about using large stones where the catchment are constructed to help slow down significantly the force of the water.
Meanwhile, Dr Orizu condoled with those who were affected in anyway to take heart. He implored the state government to direct the contractor to expeditiously address the issues.
