North under siege, no time for politics — ADG

A spokeswoman for the Arewa Discussion Group (ADG), Garba Abari, claims that the North is facing a growing security crisis that has left residents with little time or capacity for politics

In an interview with Trust TV News, Abari emphasised the growing violence in the area and the significant effects on communities and families.

He also complained about the emotional consequences on wives and parents who see their loved ones being abused and attacked.

“What can be more humiliating than for a father or a husband to witness his daughter or his wife being abused?” Abari asked.

“What can you do to a wife before her very eyes and the eyes of her children, seeing her husband gunned down and her children made homeless?”

Abari further stressed that insecurity is forcing northerners into extreme circumstances, leaving little room for political discussions.

“People are compelled to go into circumstances that are extraordinary simply because the state has failed. When the state is not doing this, then you see that there is a danger. The danger is that Nigeria, especially we northerners, are now compelled to deal with existential realities,” he said.

He added that the persistent insecurity has robbed communities of peace and sleep, noting that ordinary citizens cannot afford to focus on politics while survival remains uncertain.
