Novelty in Nnewi as illustrious son unveils modern Supermarket, creates jobs

The Nnewi-born entrepreneur, Mr Lotanna Okoye has unveiled a modern supermarket, marking a significant milestone in the town’s economic development.

In a grand ceremony on Friday, December 5, 2025 attended by esteemed dignitaries, Lozzy Supermarket, a state-of-the-art retail establishment was officially opened by the Anglican Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Obi.

Guests who honoured the invitation were prominent clergymen, town union leaders, local government officials and well-wishers who converged to witness the launch of the monumental project.

Mr Okoye, who spoke to journalists inside the Supermarket said he has been into the business for half a decade, promised to revolutionize the retail landscape in the town.

“I know for certain that, by the grace of God, any business well managed in Nnewi will make it because Nnewi is a virgin market. Nnewi is a land filled with milk and honey as written in the Bible.

“I know if there’s an enabling environment which is primarily security, that any business opened in Nnewi will thrive.

“This is the reason I opened this business in my ancestral home, “he said.

He assured that every customer of the Lozzy Supermarket would enjoy its uniqueness any day any time, adding that he would provide a modern shopping experience for residents and create employment opportunities for the youth.

“We have not just built a warehouse and put goods inside it, rather we take into cognizance of the ambiance of our building knowing fully well that anyone that works hard to make money ought to spend that money for satisfaction, in a good environment.

“The money should be spent in a place where you would like to come in and take pictures because of the good environment.

“If you look round you will notice that this is not what you see everyday. So, we are assuring our customers that we’re here to provide them with excellent services.

“Satisfaction of our customers is our concern. Our staffers are well trained to provide the best services you can get anywhere in the world.

“Every business or idea has its own uniqueness and in Lozzy Supermarket we prioritize our customers. We make sure that our customers are satisfied when they are leaving. We are unique and we don’t copy anybody, “he added.

The Lozzy Supermarket proprietor disclosed that there are up to 65 workers in his employ including security personnel. He said he paid the workers two months in advance while training them.

On security situation, he commended Governor Charles Soludo for his effort to bring normalcy to the State.

“The Governor, Professor Charles Soludo has done very well and is still doing very well on security issues in the State. He is doing his best to ensure that calmness and normalcy returns to Anambra State, “he noted.

He also subscribed to the idea that if other well-meaning Anambrarian could bring their investments home like he has done and get the youths employed that crime rate would be drastically reduced in Anambra State.

The representatives from various facets of Nnewi society, including the town union and local government leadership lauded Sir Lotanna Okoye’s vision and commitment to his hometown.

“We extend our heartiest congratulations to Sir Lotanna Okoye on this remarkable achievement and applaud his decision to invest in his hometown.

“As Nnewi continues to grow and develop, we urge other illustrious sons and daughters to emulate Sir Okoye’s example, embracing the Think Home Philosophy to drive progress and prosperity in our beloved town” they urged.

The official opening of Lozzy Supermarket serves as a beacon of hope for Nnewi’s future, underscoring the potential for entrepreneurship and Innovation to drive economic growth and transform the lives of it’s citizens.
