A premium Kidney Hospital is in the offing at Nnewi, Anambra state.
The flag off ceremony for the construction work of the hospital which is a private concern of Dr Okey Chidolue was performed by Governor Willie Obiano.
The hospital which will deal with all kidney associated problems Including dialysis, kidney transplant among others, is to help address the problem of medical tourism and provide access to tertiary health care in Anambra state and Nigeria as a whole.
Speaking during the occasion, Governor Willie Obiano represented by Anambra state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala, thanked Dr Chidolue for the initiative.
He expressed satisfaction that Ndi Anambra are answering the Aku Luo Uno call of the Willie Obiano administration and projected that the State in few years time will become a destination that its development model will be studied by others.
Governor Obiano underscored the State government’s effort in giving Ndi Anambra easier access to affordable healthcare to Ndi Anambra through the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme and enjoined people to register and benefit from the scheme.
In his address, the initiator of the project, Dr Chidolue explained that his desire to touch lives no matter how small birthed the initiative.
He explained that the project will be completed in the next twelve months, and will provide employment for skilled labour in the state and help reduce frequent tourism outside the country for medical check-up.
Speaking earlier, the chairman of the occasion, Dr. Azuka Anazodo, the Medical Director of Awka Medical Centre and National Treasurer of the Nigeria Medical Association, thanked the initiator for his kind heart and desire to help human race in tackling kidney diseases.
Some traditional rulers present at the occasion include, Igwe Kenneth Orizu of Nnewi, represented by Prince Obianefo Orizu and Obis of the four quarters in Nnewi.
