Odumeje: Group knocks Rita Edochie for criticising Soludo

A group, Igbo Youths for Positive Change, has knocked a Nollywood actress, Rita Edochie, for criticising the Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, over the demolition of some parts of the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, in Onitsha.

The church is presided over by Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, also known as Odumeje.

Edochie, had in her Instagram post, stated that the demolition of Odumeje’s church should not have been a priority to the state government, as “insecurity, bad roads and uncleanliness in Anambra State are there, but the first thing you(Soludo) rushed to do was to demolish Odumeje’s Church.”

Reacting to Edochie’s comment, the National President, IYPC, Chinedu Obigwe, said Edochie was being economical with the truth, by trying to sabotage the good works Soludo is doing with her cheap blackmail.

Addressing journalists in Awka on Sunday, Obigwe said since the governor assumed office, he has not rested as he is working hard to solve the problems in the state.

He said the demolition exercise is being done for the good of the generality of the people, adding that under Soludo’s watch, public interest will always override personal interest.

The group said, “Too bad that someone like Rita Edochie is being economical with the truth and went as far as sabotaging the good works Soludo is doing in our state with blackmail.

“The governor has tackled the insecurity problem in our state. As of today, Anambra is no longer safe for the hoodlums masquerading as ‘unknown gunmen’.

“The governor is determined to actualise his dream of turning Anambra to a liveable and prosperous homeland. He vowed that no stone will be left unturned in actualising that mission.” Related News

Obigwe pointed out that the demolition exercise is being done for the good of the people, adding that the governor did not just wake up and order the physical planning agency to embark on the demolition exercise.

He said, “The state government gave the owners of the illegal structures three months’ notice, but because our people are used to business as usual, they ignored the notice.

“What the governor wants to achieve from the demolition exercise is a free flow of water during the rainy season so that floods will stop killing people and destroying their properties every rainy season.

“The structures being demolished are structures built on waterways. Odumeje’s Church was not completely demolished.

“What the government agency demolished was the part of the office building of the church that encroached on Nwagene waterway.

“The GUO warehouse at the back of the church was also demolished and it’s likely that some parts of Odumeje’s Church fence that encroached on the Nwangene waterway will also be removed for free flow of flood.

“The action of the governor is for the public interest. Those affected by floods every rainy season are praising the governor because they know that what the governor is doing will bring an end to the problem of flooding in the state.

“Anybody criticising Soludo’s action, blackmailing and calling him names because of the things he is doing that will favour the general public is an enemy of progress.”

He added that the state government has concluded plans to commence the execution of 220km road projects in Anambra, immediately after the raining season.
