Omepuruchukwu Foundation marks 1 yr Anniversary, Visits Nnewi Correctional Center

Omepuruchukwu Charity Foundation yesterday paid a visit to the Correctional Center, Nnewi, Anambra State as part of one year anniversary of the group.

Officials and members of the foundation embarked on the visit to the Correctional Center in their good number.

The Founder of Omepuruchukwu Charity Foundation, Mr Nickolas Nsoedo while speaking with National Vision Newspaper said he is satisfied with the positive impact his group has made in the society in just one year of existence.

“I am overwhelmed with joy whenever I see joy on the faces of the people who we have assisted to find their feet again after challenges of life.

“As a charitable organization, we concentrate our efforts majorly on alleviating the sufferings of the less privileged persons in the society.

“We visit hospitals and help pick bills for medical treatment received by the downtrodden who can’t afford to pay the hospital bills, students whose parents are not economically strong are also assisted.” Mr Nsoedo explained.

He said that the group decided to visit the Nnewi Correctional Center to encourage the officers and to demonstrate to the inmates that being in the center is not the end of the road for them in life.

Mr Nsoedo however appealed to the inmates to turn a new leave and be prepared to be integrated back into the society by being good citizens rather than continuing in their old ways of life.

The Founder of Omepuruchukwu Charity Foundation thanked the officials and members of the group for their continuous support and cooperation.

Tochukwu Arugbuonye, Legal Adviser to the Foundation, while addressing the inmates said that the group is willing to give a helping hand to the poor and needy in the society.

“We are offering assistance to the people who are weak one way or the other including the inmates to become change persons and become responsible citizens.” He said.

The Assistant Comptroller of the Medium Security Correctional Center, Nnewi, Barr. Raymond Okonkwo while welcoming the group to the facility thanked the Founder, officials and members of the foundation for their good deeds in the society.

Barr Okonkwo intimated his august visitors that majority of the imates lack basic education which would enable them become better persons and be useful to themselves and the society atlarge after their stay in the Correctional Center.

He revealed that over eighty inmates are undergoing trainings for different levels of examinations and are in dire need of support from well meaning and public spirited Nigerians.

Barr Okonkwo however appealed to other charitable groups and affluent persons in the society to borrow a leaf from Omepuruchukwu Charity Foundation.

The Foundation embarked on the visit to the Correctional Center with food items, water and other consumables as well as unspecified amount of cash gift.

The group after their visit to the Correctional Center Nnewi, returned to their Abubor, Nnewichi-Nnewi office for a get together party for their one year anniversary.

The Omepuruchukwu Foundation is a charity platform created by Mr Chidi Nsoedo Omepuruchukwu Anaedo of Egbu, Umuenem, Otolo-Nnewi, Anambra State, Nigeria.
