Former Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State says he will honour the invitation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission once he receives a letter to that effect.
Obi said this in a statement on Monday titled, ‘I have not made any statement on EFCC’s invitation – Obi,’ signed by his Spokesman, Valentine Obienyem.
The former governor also denied making any statement on his invitation over the Pandora Papers.
According to leaked files published by Premium Times, Obi operated a foreign account and did not declare it in his asset declaration form provided by the Code of Conduct Bureau.
He was subsequently invited by the EFCC over the matter.
However, Obi, who was the Vice-Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 election, said it was possible that the EFCC had invited him but the letter was delivered to an old office address.
The statement read in part, “From what is circulating, the letter appears to have been sent to an office he is no longer part of and is yet to reach him. Obi being a law-abiding Nigerian will honour all legitimate invitations from government agencies at all times.”
