The Director General (DG) of Mr. Val Ozigbo Campaign Organisation(VCO), in the last Anambra State governorship election, Dr Alex Obiogbolu on Friday joined the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA).
Recalled that the DG VCO officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party on December 22nd last year.
Dr Obiogbolu, also a former governorship aspirant and a member of the Transition Committee of the governor elect, Prof Charles Soludo was received into the APGA by the national chairman of the party, Chief Victor Oye.
The event took place at the Graceland country home of Chief Oye in Amawbia, Anambra State.
In his speech at the occasion, Dr. Obiogbolu noted that things have refused to work in his former political party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after twenty one years of intensive hardwork.
He observed that though all the political parties have their own fair share of internal wranglings but added that the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has shown to have an effective mechanism to resolve differences in the party.
The former governorship candidate observed that peace, unity of purpose and commitment are parts of the value that makes APGA to be shoulder high than his former party.
Dr Obiogbolu, the Oganiru Anambra exponent pointed out that PDP started off as Igbo political party and that it is baffling that after all the political zones in the country have taken their turn to produce Nigerian president, now that it is the turn of South East to produce Nigerian president, the party’s leadership started singing discordant tunes not minding that zoning is in the party’s constitution.
“2023 general elections are around the corner, it is high time we looked inward and leverage on APGA which is the heart of Ndigbo, we should all join APGA and make her a regional force to get other political blocs in the country. I must say that APGA is already a national political party because it has been winning elections outside Igboland.” He said.
He maintained that APGA is not only a responsible political party but a national party which a true Igbo man must identify with towards the political emancipation of Ndigbo within a sovereign entity called Nigeria.
Dr Obiogbolu also commended the leadership qualities of the national chairman of APGA and pledged his unalloyed loyalty to the party.
In his speech, the national chairman of APGA, Chief Oye welcomed the former PDP stalwart on board and expressed the optimism that he would use his wealth of experience to uplift the party.
The occasion was witnessed by the Anambra State Chairman of APGA, Chief (Sir) Norbert Obi, the member Representing Anambra East and West federal constituency in House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin C Obidigwe and others.
