The faction of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Nyesome Wike, has fired back at Governor Seyi Makinde, over his remarks against Wike.
Makinde, during a media chat had claimed that Wike told President Bola Tinubu that he was going to hold down the PDP in the 2027 polls.
But the PDP National Publicity Secretary
National Caretaker Working Committee
Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, in a statement yesterday, said the governor was economical with the truth.
According to him, Makinde shot himself on the foot, stating that he made a confessional statements.
“We also note that Governor Seyi Makinde, through his recent media chat, unfortunately, has succeeded only in indicting himself.
“The interview was not just uninspiring and replete with distorted facts, confessional statements, envy, and an afterthought but a further
demonstration of a clear lack of understanding of the legal and constitutional issues presently confronting the party.
“His comments should therefore be treated with utmost caution,” he pointed.
He charged party members to continue to support the Abdulrahman Mohammed-Led Caretaker Committee, which “remains steadfast in Restoring Order, Cohesion, and Credibility within the party.”
According to him, the failure of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize the Bala Mohammed-led faction was done in good fate
He said: “Nigerians and party members are therefore advised to carefully, objectively, and dispassionately examine the facts affecting the party, rather than falling prey to falsehoods and propaganda being peddled by certain groups.
“Their earlier claims of being recognized by INEC have now been clearly exposed as false. Their stock-in-trade remains lies and propaganda, and they have now resorted to sponsored attacks aimed at intimidating
INEC.
“We wish to state unequivocally that we are party leaders who have utmost respect for constitutional provisions, subsisting court judgments, and the rule of law.
“Party members and the general public are further advised to disregard the insinuations and deliberate attempts to mislead Nigerians by suggesting that the issues currently affecting the
PDP are not justiciable.
“If indeed these matters were merely internal party affairs, why then did the same individuals earlier approach the Oyo State High Court for Judicial
Intervention?”
Meanwhile, in the spirit of the Christmas celebration, he implored Nigerians to pray for the country.
“As Nigerians celebrate, party members are urged to reflect deeply on the issues confronting the PDP with a view to making positive New Year Resolutions that will foster unity, stability, and progress,” he said.
