The President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote said petrol from his refinery is the “real deal”.
The billionaire businessman said this during a broadcast at his refinery in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State, as the refinery officially commenced petrol production.
Dangote said the petrol from the refinery can compete with products from other parts of the world in terms of quality.
He explained that petrol and diesel products from the refinery appear clearer than others in circulation in Nigeria because they are more environmentally friendly and could help reduce health issues associated with polluted petroleum products.
Dangote stressed that his products would also protect engines from damage caused by the unclear petroleum products in circulation.
“This is the sample of the petrol. You see it as a different colour, but that is the real deal. You are now going to have a good and genuine product,” he said.
Dangote said the refinery produces the Euro-5 diesel which contains less than 10 PPM (parts per million) of sulphur.
According to him, this will help vehicles, engines, and generators last longer.
The President of Dangote Group assured that the health of the people and the environment would not be compromised.
He expressed appreciation for President Bola Tinubu’s initiatives, particularly the “naira for crude” policy, which he said would stabilise the naira by reducing the demand for dollars by 40 percent.
He also tackled the issue of round-tripping in the oil industry, where false documentation leads to petrol shortages, noting that his refinery’s operations would facilitate a precise tracking of petrol consumption across Nigeria to offer a solution to this problem.
He disclosed that the refinery is completing final arrangements with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, after which its products would be available in the market.
