Police harvest criminals in Anambra

Anambra State Police Command during the Christmas and new year festivities harvested huge number of suspected criminals.

This fact was revealed by the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye (CP) while briefing journalists in Awka on Monday.

He pointed out that thirty two suspected criminals were arrested during the period under review and fifty two arms and ammunition were recovered from the suspects.

CP Adeoye stated that the crime committed by arrested suspects range from armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism and allied offences.

The Anambra State Commissioner of Police revealed that the operatives from the state were on duty all through the festive period to ensure that Ndi-Anambra enjoyed their celebrations to the fullest.

He noted that the Command was rewarded with the sum of five million Naira (N5m) for her outstanding roles in restoring law and order in Ozubulu Community in Ekwusigo LGA of Anambra state.

“Law and order were restored in Ozubulu when there was a distress call from the community over the menace of gunmen that has been terrorizing people in the area and at some point the Tradition Ruler of the community and some titled men had to run away from the town.“

Recall that the command had during manhunt for the gunmen that attacked the convoy of Chief Chris Uba were two policemen lost their lives bursted the hide out of the suspects at Ogboli in Orumba North LGA and recovered four locally made bombs and two pump action guns while two of the gang members were neutralized in the process.

CP Adeoye said that the command is still continuing it’s manhunt for the rest of the gunmen that operated at the Uga junction.

“A kidnap suspect was arrested in Nando Anambra East LGA after he had obtained the sum of minei million Naira ( N9m) from a victim through a woman that was a Point Of Service POS operator who transferred the ransom to the suspect,” CP Adeoye stressed.
