The police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have confirmed that Barrister Chris Agidy, a kidnapped victim in Abuja, has been killed by his abductors.
Agidy, a former Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Abuja branch and senior legislative aide to Senator Ned Nwoko, was among 19 persons kidnapped by gunmen from their homes in Galadimawa area of Abuja in November 2023.
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed Agidy’s death to journalists on Tuesday. She said the prime suspect, notorious kidnapper Samaila Wakili who was arrested last Friday in Nasarawa state, confessed to killing the lawyer.
“The suspect led police operatives to where the remains of Barr. Chris Agidy was recovered and deposited in Gwagwalada General Hospital,” Adeh said.
Agidy was kidnapped alongside others in November by armed men who raided homes in Galadimawa. His principal, Senator Nwoko and security agencies had been making efforts to secure their release before his death was announced.
