Police operative nab 2 suspected cultists in Nnewi, recover pistol, live ammunition

Police operatives attached to Otolo – Nnewi at about 1.45 pm on Thursday arrested two suspects and recovered one foreign made pistol, three live ammunition and a lady’s motorcycle suspected to have been stolen.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Anambra State command, Tochukwu Ikenga (SP) revealed this in a press statement made available to journalists.

Ikenga said that the suspects, Ani Obinna aged 21 and Okwudili Ezike aged 43, all males were arrested during a hot chase by the police operatives acting on credible information which led to the busting of a criminal hideout in Nnewi.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to being members of a secret cult and a kidnapping gang. They also gave useful information which the operatives are currently working on aimed at dislodging their criminal network and arresting of other gang members,” Ikenga said.

The PPRO said that the command has continued to demonstrate its commitment to ensuring public safety and nipping to the bud all forms of criminal activities in Anambra State.

He said that the command has sustained security patrol in the area and is more committed to fostering a secure environment for meaningful work and businesses to thrive in the state.
