The Oyo State Police Command has unveiled extensive security protocols ahead of the coronation of former Governor Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland at the Mapo Hall, Ibadan, today.
In a statement on Thursday, the command warned against any form of public disorder, including unauthorised processions and movements, as it rolled out measures aimed at ensuring a safe and peaceful ceremony at the historic Mapo Hall.

The police command, in a statement released by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, said it had put in place comprehensive security protocols to ensure a safe and peaceful coronation ceremony at the historic Mapo Hall.
Osifeso said the occasion signified a notable cultural and historical milestone and is anticipated to draw distinguished guests and participants from around the world.

“In light of the expected turnout, the state police command, in conjunction with relevant sister services, has perfected strategies for the execution of extensive security measures.
“These measures will encompass confidence-building patrols, heightened surveillance operations, and intelligence-led stop-and-search initiatives across the length and breadth of the state.
“Special emphasis will be placed on all entry and exit points in and out of the state, with particular attention directed towards the coronation venue.
“This includes public parks, train stations, and the Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport in Ibadan.”
The PPRO said the organising committee, designated by the state government, had officially communicated the impending closure of certain routes surrounding the Mapo Hall starting from 7:00 am today.
The restricted routes, according to the statement, include Beere junction towards Mapo Hall; Born Photo junction towards Oja’ba; and Idi-Arere junction towards Oja’ba-Itamerin junction towards Mapo Hall.
The police, therefore, advised the public to adjust their movement plans accordingly and consider alternative routes to mitigate potential disruptions.
“Furthermore, the command issues a stern warning against any forms of public disorder, including unauthorised processions and movements within the metropolis before, during, and after the event,” the statement added.
The command sought the collaboration of the public in adhering to all directives and in fostering a peaceful atmosphere throughout this momentous occasion.
It encouraged the general public to report any suspicious activity or concern to their nearest police station.
