The AfriHealth Consortium
Afrihealth is an international consortium of health entrepreneurs that has played a key role in projecting Healthcare industry in Nigeria showcasing its strength with the overall objective of improving the sector, thus reducing Medical tourism. This it does through its quarterly organized and well-attended Health Expos that usually bring together all the players within the sector, including the producers, consumers, and regulators of Healthcare services in Nigeria.
The company also, from time to time honours individuals who they adjudged to have significantly impacted the Nigerian Healthcare sector.
Patnership with Afrihealth
Professor Ugboaja said that “one of the major pillars in our 10-year Strategic and Development plan is Patnerships with stakeholders. Our goal under this pillar is to achieve the vision of the hospital through patnering with relevant stakeholders in the health sector for the purposes of resource mobilization, infrastructural development, as well as training.
“These stakeholders include government agencies, supra-government agencies, community stakeholders, political office holders, members of the media, etc.
“The partnership with AfriHealth envisage opening a new window for NAUTH to reach and interact with more stakeholders for the purposes of infrastructural acquisition and training of manpower. Additionally, through its widely read newsmagazine, the patnership will project the hospital’s activities to the larger world improving our visibility with expected increase in patronage and the attendant increased rating.”
Aligning NAUTH/ AFRIHEALTH Patnership with the Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative ( HSRII)
The HSRII, is the main strategic policy thrust of the Honourable Coordinatig Minister of Health and Social Welfare, seeks to radically improve the Nigerian Health Sector through a multisectoral approach relying on 4 pillars which are improving governance, improving health outcomes, health security, and patnerships. HSRII emphasizes multisectoral partnerships and collaborations in its approach towards mitigating the challenges within the health sector in Nigeria. The partnership with Afrihealth is expected to avail NAUTH the opportunity of working with an array of partners which cut across the different sectors of the country which includes the Health sector, the financing agencies, the equipment manufacturers and vendors, the other ministries, etc.
Conclusion
Professor expressed further: “It was gratifying to be honoured as the CMD of the year by the Afrihealth consortium. It signifies that our modest efforts at improving our system is being noticed. It’s an incentive for me to even double my efforts at ensuring that we meet our institutionsl vision.
“However, of more strategic importance to me is the expected boost to our services that is expected to come with the patnership.”
Final words
“As we work towards achieving our vision of becoming one of the best hospitals in Nigeria, we call on our patners and all corporate organizations in the Health sector to look our way and see how to assist us in building the biggest hospital in West Africa. While we seek these new opportunities of partnerships with the relevant agencies and organizations, we will continue to appreciate our present partners for all they are doing to assist us and encourage them not to rest on their oars until we reach the finish line, because a healthy nation is a wealthy nation.”
