President Trump was ushered out of the White House briefing into the house. The press corps were bewildered by the action and tried to speculate on what led to the incident.
The White House immediately was put on a lockdown mode by the Secret Service. It became clear that there was a shooting incident near the White House.
Mr Trump came out of the White House after about 10 minutes to continue the press briefing. He told the press corps that there was a shooting very close to the White House.
The Secrete service shot the shooter, who Mr Trump said was on the way to the hospital. The President thanked the Secrete Service for their readiness and professionalism.
