Abroad-based Sir Chinelo and Lady Amaka Ejimbe on Saturday celebrated their thirtieth wedding anniversary in style.
The anniversary service was held at New Bethel Anglican Church, Ezekwuabor, Otolo-Nnewi, Anambra State.
In his sermon, the Bishop of Nnewi Anglican Communion, Rt Revd Ndubuisi Obi, commended the couple for upholding the Christian virtues in their marriage.
He said that the Ejimbes are passionate Anglicans who have become a beacon of hope that couples can get it right in a world where divorce and separation are fast becoming the order of the day, especially in the Western world where the couple is based.
Bishop Obi, who took his reading from Genesis Chapter 2, urged married couples to adhere to God’s principle on marriage.
“Bad family is a foretaste of hell. That is why couples should ensure that they make their marital union work to ensure a taste of heaven on Earth. God’s standard on marriage is that a man should love his wife, and a wife should be submissive to her husband.
“Man should take his priestly position in the family as he would be held responsible for anything that becomes of that union. Most people terrorizing society as unknown gunmen, when profiled, normally show that they are the product of broken homes.” Bishop Obi explained.
The bishop prayed for more grace, mercy on the couple and the entire members of the Ejimbe family.
The bishop appreciated the Ejimbes for their support for the church which according to him is unprecedented and worthy of emulation.
Sir Chinelo Ejimbe, in his remarks, appreciated the grace of God upon his life and family, noting that everything he is doing for God and humanity is an indication of his gratitude for God’s grace.
Lady Amaka Ejimbe, in a brief chat with journalists, harped on the bishop’s message noting that women would always annoy their husbands and that the husbands have a unique responsibility to overlook the shortcomings.
The highlight of the wedding anniversary was the dedication of altar marble table and rail dedication in memory of Madam B.M Ejimbe (Ide Red Cross).
The couple at the end of service treated their guests and well wishers to a grand reception at the resident of the celebrants.
Eminent personalities from within the country and beyond graced the occasion.
