Two Hospitality and Entertainment facilities situated at the Jesus Estate Oba in Idemili South Local Government Area Anambra State have been accused of allegedly contributing to the death of Late Bonaventure Obunadike and the debilitating health conditions of many residents.
The accusations came as a result of the noise pollution emanating from the premises of the facilities which have reportedly traumatized residents of Jesus Estate Oba over the years.

Speaking to newsmen, the Chairman of the Estate Mr. Ekene Anyaora alleged that the death of Late Bonaventure Obunadike Nwawelugo was as a result of the incessant noise pollution caused by the Loud music and Entertainment sound systems played by Sky Cold Hotel and Olivia Garden at Oba.
“Our Estate used to be peaceful and lovely until two Residents: Olivia Garden and Sky Cold built an Entertainment Joint and a hotel respectively. These facilities started playing loud music in such a way that people in this neighborhood no longer sleep.
“The Trustees and Executives of Jesus Estate have approached the duo in the spirit of love and neighborliness pleading with them to reduce the volume of their music which is always at full blare from multiple speakers or subwoofers at nights.
“We also involved Satellite City group led by Comrade Iyke to help plead with the owners and management of Sky Cold and Olivia Garden but all our pleas for them to reduce the volume of noise coming out from their sound systems fell on deaf ears.
“We wrote to the Environmental Health Services, EHS, Ojoto which issued them a warning letter to regulate the noise coming out of their facilities but they refused. We also wrote a petition to Mayor of Idemili South, Iyom Amaka Obi who directed the EHS Director to issue the second warning letter but they still refused to control their music.
“We have done everything humanly possible urging them to stop the loud music to no avail.
“Today we are calling on Anambra State Government ably led by Prof Charles Soludo to come to our aid. We are dying by instalment.
“Every weekend, From Friday evening around 6pm till Tuesday morning around 3 to 4am these Sky Cold hotel and Olivia Garden Joint will continue blaring their music to the detriment of our health and peace which one of the residents here, Bonaventure Obunadike Nwawelugo kept complaining to them, begging for his life because he was hypertensive but they did not bother to listen to his plea to reduce the reverberating sound constituting a nuisance in the neighborhood.
“Unfortunately, these two facilities started their loud music from 31st December evening till the morning of January 1st, 2026 when Mr Obunadike’s body system could no longer bear the sound, he collapsed due to the incessant noise pollution, before the family could reach the hospital he was confirmed dead. We put it to them that Bonaventure Obunadike died as a result of the devastating noise caused by the Loud music played by these two facilities who were his immediate neighbors.
“If these duo listened to his plea, he could not have been dead by today.
They have refused to regulate their loud music, bragging that they are fully connected to powers that be, claiming that nobody can do anything to stop them from doing their business the way they like,” Anyaora alleged.
“We the executive members of Jesus Estate Oba are not violent people. As law abiding citizens we are pleading for our lives. State Government, Local Government should please Save our Souls, we are dying. Every weekend from Friday till Monday night we don’t sleep in this neighborhood due to Loud music,” he pleaded.
Wife of the deceased, Mrs Chinyere Obunadike confirmed the statements of the Estate chairman adding that if the facility owners listened to her late husband’s pleading to regulate the noise of the music coming out of their sound systems he could still be alive by now. “Anytime this music is playing for about four years now the walls of our building will be vibrating,” said Mrs Obunadike.
According to another victim, Mrs Uchenna Ugwueke, the kind of music emanating from these facilities is Noise pollution. Residents of Jesus Estate are suffering. We share the same fence with Sky Cold. It is not proper that after the day’s work, one comes home to rest only to experience noise every night till around 2 or 3am. It was a very terrible experience when I had my baby. I and my baby could not sleep. I am not against them doing their business but they should consider that this is a residential area. We have school children who would like to study at night but can not because of the incessant noise. You can’t even converse peacefully with someone on phone because of the noise. Infact, one of my neighbors had to relocate because of the noise.
“My neighbor Late Bonaventure Obunadike complained bitterly a lot before he died. You can not rest here at night and even sometimes during the day. A lot of people are passing through a lot and this noise pollution can contribute to their health challenges although their voices are not heard,” said Mrs Ugwueke.
Moreso , the Chairman Constitution Committee, Mr Oliver Okonkwo said he had resolved to be spending weekends in his village to avoid the noise.
“My house is close to Olivia garden. I no longer open my windows. Their music is non-stop. Anyday they close on time is by 2am. The once peaceful estate have been turned to mad people estate.
“I am planning to relocate because the facility is not only attracting prostitute, but increasing level of insecurity in the estate.
“We’re not stopping them from doing their business, but they should apply caution,” said Okonkwo.
Another resident, Ebenezer Chukwuma popularly called Dede by admirers said he no longer sleeps without the aid of sleeping tablets.
“The noise has not only increased my BP, but makes it difficult for me to sleep. I now take sleeping pills to enable me sleep even after closing my windows,” Chukwuma lamented.
In a swift reaction, Manager of Olivia Garden, Mr. Ambrose Nwokedi admitted
that they have received a delegation from the EHS Ojoto concerning the complaints made by the estate’s executive but claimed that the music from their facilities was not loud enough to result to anybody’s death. Nwokedi said he does not know how to control the music emanating from their facility.
Also Mr Success Akajiobi of Sky Cold Hotel said that on receiving the complaint sometimes last year his Boss told them to regulate their sound systems claiming that he was just hearing that a resident died as a result of loud music wondering how that could be possible.
