The Nnewi North AVS strike force, under the supervision of the Council Chairman, Engr Chris Obiorah, captured one of the most wanted hardened criminals in Anambra state, Mesoma, better known as Celeb.
Celeb is a notorious cultist, a hardened robber, who had evaded arrest attempts in Nnewi by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). His operational method ranges from using motorbikes to rob innocent citizens to invading shops in the daytime with his criminal games, going from store to store.
He had done so much criminally without regard to the vigilantes and the police, always disappearing and reappearing to do worse while taunting the security services.
The young man is known to have multiple residences between Nnewi and the surrounding local governments.
The Nnewi North Council Chairman told Vision Newspapers it took patience, quiet hard-nosed detective work by the Nnewi North strike force, led by Uche Ngonadi, to capture Celeb.
Ngonadi, who was reluctant to speak with the press, informed Vision Newspapers that the older brother of Celeb, Chinedu, is as dangerous as Celeb. Ngonadi said that Chinedu was on the run with their pistols and other weapons. Chinedu also has multiple residences.
Ngonadi said that the police released their uncle reluctantly from detention when they caught Celeb. It was learned that their uncle used to plead on their behalf whenever they were in trouble. He had finally given up on them because they refused to change
Commander Ngonadi said that they recovered a motorbike, several generator plants, and numerous household items,.
The commander thanked the governor for setting up AVS. He is grateful for the enormous support the Council chairman, Engr Chris Obiorah, has given them. He donated a vehicle, and another one is on the way.
