The Beach Soccer National League took off Nnewi Anambra

The Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo through the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Hon Patrick Agha Mba commissioned the pitch for the tournament open and ready for the competition.

The Pitch was built single-handedly by Prof Victor Madubuko and his wife to ensure that beach soccer in Nnewi and Anambra has a world-standard facility to ply their trade.

Prior to the Commissioner’s Hon Dr. Ezeakukwu Emmanuel Nsoedo, the Secretary General of Anambra State Beach Soccer Association summarized the vision behind the development of the game in Anambra State.

Ezeakukwu informed all the guests that it was the vision of Prof Victor and wife to give back to the community by pursuing the development of Beach Soccer to get the youth interested in something that will remove them from social vices, develop their skills to compete for the state, the national team, and ultimately become professionals to earn sustenance for themselves and families.

The Commissioner for Sports spoke extensively about how happy the state government is with the initiative of Prof Madubuko. Sports activities should not be left to the government alone but encouraged this type of effort by the stakeholders that the government is ready to partner in such developments.

The Commissioner confirmed to all that such facility in Nnewi will be developed in the 21 local government areas of the state.

The Council Chairman, Engr Chris Obiorah, was very happy that Professor Madubuko brought the development to Nnewi, a town that is known for nurturing talents. A leader in many other human endeavors. He promised that Council would not take a back seat in seeing the sport develop.

The cultural activities to entertain the guests was excellent. The Ugoebenaja masquerade, Ijele masquerade, and several traditional dance groups entertained the guests. The National officials and visiting players from all over the country were excited.

The National Beach Soccer President for Africa and Nigeria guided the CEO Innoson Group, Chief Innocent Chukwuma to perform the kickoff ceremony to the delight of the teeming spectators.

Chief Chukwuma also thanked Prof Madubuko for bringing the sport to Nnewi and Anambra state. He believed that beach soccer is going to grow exponentially.

The highlight of the day’s event was the match between The Anambra Warriors and the Kwara team. Both teams displayed incredible talent, however, Anambra Warriors came from two goals down to defeat Kwara three goals to two.
