The Committee of Friends Nnewi (COF) held its AGM under the dynamic leadership of Prof Ezechukwu on September 1, 2024.

The meeting took off around 3.30 pm as scheduled with a robust progressive agenda for the internal operations of the COF such as sustaining the medical vital signs examination of members to checkmate any sudden medical emergency; and selecting of three patrons to join the Association’s sole pioneer, Mr Joachin UBI Okonkwo (Okwuejuigbo). The COF noted the impactful role that Mr Joachin UBI Okonkwo had continued playing in the life of the Association.

The three new Patrons selected were further given stamp of approval by the AGM. The New Patrons are Chief Oseloka Osuigwe SAN, Chief Goddy Adamu Aneto, and Innocent Okoli. The COF had designated a period for the certificate presentation.

In addition to the presentation of the Patrons, the COF gave a special award of recognition to Maranatha Chukwuagozie for her unselfish dispostion to the welfare of all members through various acts of kindness.

The fundamental concern of the COF borders on how to be more effective around its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Since the founding of the Association, they have always engaged in various charitable causes.

They key amongst the CSR activities the Association has domiciled and codified as recurring decimals were: 1) the Interschool Education Quiz in conjunction with the education authority. 2) To maintain the recurring special funds to the family of a deceased member every September of each year; 3) To incorporate the use of internet platforms for the members living outside of Nigeria during the monthly general meetings.

The AGM meeting was followed by the gala night, and breakfast by all attendees, including robust gifts to all members.
